Thomas M. Grasso graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, New York in 1991, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Martine Transportation. Following graduation he sailed as Third Officer with the U.S. Navy Military Sealift Command on underway replenishment vessels and raised his license to Second Mate Unlimited /1600 GT Master. Before attending law school, Mr. Grasso worked for a customs broker as an imports specialist concentrating in fruit, seafood, steel, cocoa and coffee imports. Mr. Grasso graduated from the University of Akron School of Law in 1997 and entered private practice, where he developed expertise in claims involving contracts of carriage in all modes of transport, lost and damaged goods, warehousing and distribution operations, recreational boating warranty, maritime personal injury and commercial litigation.
Mr. Grasso's clients have included major marine insurers, commodity traders, cargo owners, manufacturers, charterers, logistics and forwarding companies, shipyards and marine terminals.
