Martin F. Casey graduated from the New York State Maritime College in 1981 with degrees in meteorology and oceanography. Upon graduation, he sailed as a licensed mate on ocean-going tankers for three years, eventually obtaining a Second Officer\'s License. Mr. Casey graduated from St. John\'s Law School in 1986. Since that time he has been involved in all aspects of commercial litigation, specializing particularly in admiralty and maritime, insurance, aviation, railroad and trucking claims. His clients include underwriters, charterers, shippers and recovery agents located throughout the world. He has experience in litigation, arbitration, mediation and insurance coverage disputes in virtually every state in the United States; has been involved in several major international marine casualties and has participated in many on-board casualty investigations.

Gregory G. Barnett graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point in 1981 with a degree in marine engineering. After graduation, he sailed as a licensed engineer on oceangoing vessels and integrated tug barge units. Later, he worked in a shipyard and then for 10 years in the transportation and risk management departments for a leading fruit company which shipped its fruit on owned and chartered vessels. Mr. Barnett managed a wide variety of insurance policies and claims involving cargo, hull, P&I, charterers' liability, FD&D, container, property and aviation risks; he has also drafted bills of lading, charter parties, service contracts and contracts of affreightments and has extensive experience in crisis management during onboard casualty investigations. Since 1994 Mr. Barnett has been involved in all aspects of commercial litigation, specializing particularly in admiralty and maritime, insurance, employment discrimination contract drafting and real estate. His clients include underwriters, charterers, shippers and individuals located throughout the world. He has experience in litigation, arbitration, mediation and insurance coverage disputes in virtually every state in the United States and has been involved in several major international casualties involving ship and cargo damage.

Christopher M. Schierloh graduated from the New York State Maritime College in 1993. Upon graduation, he sailed aboard oil spill recovery vessels and was involved in a major pollution control and cleanup effort in Puerto Rico. Mr. Schierloh subsequently sailed as a licensed deck officer aboard oceangoing tankers and integrated tug/barge units in capacities up to and including Chief Officer. Mr. Schierloh graduated from Hofstra University School of Law in 2005.

Janine E. Brown graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law in 2008. She was a member of Seton Hall’s Distinguished Scholars Program and received a merit-based full tuition scholarship. Ms. Brown served as law clerk to the Honorable Clarkson S. Fisher, Jr. of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, for the 2008-2009 court term. Prior to joining Casey & Barnett, Ms. Brown handled all aspects of pre-trial litigation as an associate at a firm specializing in railroad and transportation law, insurance and commercial litigation, and construction law. She practices in federal and state court in both New York and New Jersey.

Veronica Mura

Veronica Mura graduated from Bocconi University in Milan, Italy, in 2006 and from Bocconi University Law School with a Master of Science in Private Business and Law in 2008. During law school, she held internships in law firms specializing in admiralty and maritime, insurance and reinsurance, ship sale and purchase, ship finance and other shipping contracts, in New York and in Genova, Italy. Upon graduation, she practiced corporate/structured finance law in the legal department of a leading investment bank in Milan before moving to the United States in 2010. Ms. Mura graduated with distinction from Tulane University Law School with a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Admiralty in 2011. She speaks Italian and English.
